This Torah Mantle and Torah Binder were commissioned by Congregation Solel for their new Torah, to be displayed in the Ark of the main sanctuary. The text is from Ps. 19:8 – “The Torah of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul...” The silk Torah Binder incorporates a portion of the text used in the Torah Mantle.
The colors of the mantle harmonize with the earth and rose tones of the sanctuary. The gold shimmer of the fabric evokes its sacred purpose. The unwoven design of the Unweavings suggests a tree of life, and complements the aesthetic of the loosely-woven ark curtain created by Lenore Tawney.
