Caliince Dance Project

“Marie, embroidering survival,” a full-length dance piece choreographed by Pauline Legras, premiered at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre in New York City on June 8, 2012. The set, created by Laurie Wohl, is composed of 130 strips of painted gauze fabric that move on 3 rows of parallel wires. The movements of the dancers with the set evoke the various threads of women’s lives, as they weave, embroider, pattern their personal tapestries.

Wohl’s collaboration with Pauline Legras for Caliince Dance (NYC) is her second venture in the dance world. She previously collaborated with Jan Erkert & Dancers (Chicago) on a full-length dance piece “Unweavings.”
